On Tuesday, 28th January 2025, key stakeholders and partners of the DARIS WACAN and ELEVATE projects gathered at Granada Hotel, Mandera, for a crucial Stakeholder and Programme Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting. The session provided a platform to evaluate the progress made in implementing both projects and to outline the way forward.
The meeting brought together distinguished leaders, including H.E. Dr. Ali Maalim Mohamud, Deputy Governor of Mandera County, Mr. Henry Ochako, County Commissioner, Mr. Mohamed Haji, European Union Representative, Dimanche Sharon, IOM Kenya Chief of Mission, alongside senior officials from the Mandera County Government and various NGO partners.

The day featured two significant sessions:
- Project Updates & Progress Review
- The latest developments in the DARIS WACAN and ELEVATE projects were presented.
- These projects, funded by the European Union and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) respectively, are making strides in addressing critical challenges in water access, climate resilience, and community empowerment in Mandera County.
- First Programme Steering Committee Meeting
- OSDA presented findings and recommendations from its recent technical and community assessments conducted under the #DARISWACANProject.
- The committee engaged in discussions on strengthening implementation strategies and enhancing impact within the targeted communities.

🔹 DARIS WACAN Project
- Funded by the European Union through IOM – UN Migration.
- Implemented in Mandera East Sub-county by OSDA.
- Focuses on sustainable water access, climate adaptation, and community resilience.
🔹 ELEVATE Project
- Funded by KOICA through IOM – UN Migration.
- Implemented in Lafey Sub-county by World Vision Kenya and OSDA.
- Aims to empower vulnerable communities, enhance livelihoods, and improve access to essential services.
