OSDA Launches Strategic Plan 2025–2027: Building Resilience in the Horn of Africa

The Organization for Sustainable Development Africa (OSDA) has unveiled its ambitious Strategic Plan for 2025–2027, reinforcing its commitment to building empowered, resilient, cohesive, and sustainable communities across fragile ecosystems in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia.

With the core mission of “helping people help themselves,” OSDA’s new strategy focuses on addressing climate change, food insecurity, poverty, poor health access, and conflict—challenges that continue to destabilize the Horn of Africa.

🔍 Strategic Focus Areas:

  • Climate Action: Promoting ecosystem restoration, sustainable land use, and climate-smart agriculture.
  • WASH & Livelihoods: Increasing access to clean water, sanitation, and climate-resilient livelihood options.
  • Education: Supporting inclusive, safe, and quality education—especially in emergencies.
  • Health & Nutrition: Strengthening primary healthcare systems and scaling up nutrition interventions.
  • Peacebuilding & Governance: Facilitating peace, social cohesion, and community participation in decision-making.
  • Institutional Strengthening: Investing in systems, staff, and partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.

OSDA’s value proposition lies in its unique ability to blend innovation, advocacy, collaboration, and peace facilitation—ensuring that all solutions are locally led, data-driven, and community-centered.

🌍 Why This Matters
Over 20 million people in the region face food insecurity, while youth unemployment, gender inequality, and displacement persist. OSDA’s approach emphasizes co-creating solutions with affected communities, fostering real impact and lasting change.

💬 In the words of Executive Director Albashir Ibrahim:

“With the collaboration of our communities, staff, networks, and partners, the goals we aspire to accomplish will translate into tangible outcomes and impact on communities.”
